Greek voters deal blow to governing parties

A man casts his vote for Greece's general elections at a polling station in Athens on Sunday.

By ELENA BECATOROS and DEREK GATOPOULOS , The Associated Press

Updated at 6:15 p.m. ET: ATHENS, Greece -- Greeks angered by a protracted financial crisis punished the parties that have dominated politics for decades Sunday, with projected election results showing them hemorrhaging support to anti-bailout groups and no party gaining enough ballots to form a government.

Responding quickly to the protest vote, the heads of the parties in first and second place pledged to seek to either renegotiate the terms of Greece's multibillion dollar international bailout agreement or overturn it.

More than two years of repeated austerity measures in return for bailout loans from other European Union countries and the IMF have pushed Greece into a deep recession that has seen the jobless rate explode and tens of thousands of businesses close. The misery has infuriated voters who on Sunday dealt a massive blow to the decades-old dominance of the country's two main parties, the socialist PASOK and conservative New Democracy.

The two, which have alternated in power since the end of the seven-year dictatorship in 1974, had managed to coexist in an uneasy alliance for the past six months as a governing coalition cobbled together to secure a second bailout deal and the biggest debt writedown in history.

Official projections Sunday showed New Democracy winning 18.9 percent, giving it 108 seats in the 300-member parliament - far short of the 151 needed to form a government. The anti-bailout left-wing Syriza party was projected second with 16.8 percent and 51 seats, and the formerly majority socialist PASOK lagged behind with 13.4 and 41 seats.

The extremist far-right Golden Dawn party, which ran on an anti-immigrant platform and wants landmines along Greece's borders, is projected to win 7 percent of the vote, giving it 22 deputies in Parliament - a massive gain for a party that until a few months ago was on the fringes of Greek politics.

With no outright majority, a coalition government will have to be formed. If successive efforts by the top three parties fail, the country will head into new elections - a prospect that has alarmed Greece's international creditors.

Both New Democracy head Antonis Samaras and PASOK leader and former finance minister Evangelos Venizelos voiced support for a coalition - but with certain caveats.

"The fact that New Democracy is the first party increases its responsibility, as it is now the only pillar of political stability in Greece," Samaras said. "We are ready to take up the responsibilty to form a new government of national salvation with two exclusive aims: For Greece to remain in the euro and to amend the terms of the loan agreements so that there is economic growth and relief for Greek society."

Before the elections, Samaras had insisted he would not form a coalition with his socialist rivals.

Syriza head Alexis Tsipras said the drubbing of New Democracy and PASOK, which had signed Greece's loan agreements, meant "their signatures have lost legal legitimacy by the popular vote."

"The people have rewarded a proposal made by us to form a government of the Left that will cancel the loan agreements and overturn the course of our people toward misery," Tsipras said.

Both statements are likely to alarm Greece's international creditors, who will be watching the debt-ridden country closely to see if it is meeting the strict fiscal targets of spending cuts and boosting revenue in return for rescue loans that are keeping it from default. The country is expected to take yet more austerity measures in June.

Partial official results with 48 percent of the vote counted showed New Democracy with 20.05 percent, Syriza with 16.02 percent and PASOK with 13.84 percent.

Golden Dawn, which rejects the neo-Nazi label and calls itself a nationalist partriotic party, had 6.86 percent - a meteoric rise for a party that won just 0.23 in the previous elections in 2009.

"Greek citizens should not fear us, the only ones who should fear us are the traitors," Golden Dawn leader Nikolaos Michaloliakos told The Associated Press. The outcome is particularly devastating to PASOK, which won a landslide victory in the last parliamentary elections in 2009 with more than 43 percent of the vote.

"For us at PASOK, the day is particularly painful," Venizelos said. "We new that we would pay the price, having taken a emotionally and politically unbearable position to take the measures that were necessary."

He ruled out a two-party government with New Democracy and called for a broad coalition of pro-European parties, regardless of their stance on the bailouts.

"A coalition government of the old two-party system would not have sufficient legitimacy or sufficient domestic and international credibility if it would gather a slim majority," Venizelos said. "A government of national unity with the participation of all the parties that favor a European course, regardless of their positions toward the loan agreements, would have meaning."

Days of talks are expected as parties attempt to hammer out a governing coalition.

Swiss bank Pictet gave data to U.S. in tax probe

    To contact us Click HERE

ZURICH (Reuters) - Swiss bank Pictet said on Sunday it handed over bank account details to U.S. authorities probing cases of tax evasion, as a newspaper reported it had accepted funds from two former UBS clients suspected of having cheated on taxes.

Pictet said in a statement the data handover took place in November 2010 via the Swiss tax office, which had received a request for assistance from its U.S. counterparts.

This is the latest episode in an ongoing dispute between the United States and Switzerland over wealthy Americans accused of avoiding taxes by hiding money in secret Swiss accounts.

Eleven Swiss banks - including Credit Suisse and Julius Baer but not Pictet - are under scrutiny by the United States for aiding U.S. citizens suspected of tax dodging.

Banking secrecy has helped the Swiss build up a $2 trillion offshore wealth management industry.

Citing 130 pages of court documents, the SonntagsZeitung said that two U.S. citizens transferred more than $2 million to accounts at the private bank Pictet, registered under the names of two front companies in Switzerland, at a time when UBS was under scrutiny by U.S. authorities investigating tax evasion.

The article, which was also carried in the French-language Le Matin Dimanche, did not say whether the U.S. authorities might take action against Pictet.

In its statement, Pictet did not say from which bank it had received a money transfer or how much it was. The Geneva-based bank said it closed the accounts in 2010.

Pictet said it was not being accused of breaking U.S. law.

"Moreover, we vigorously refute any allegation that Pictet is being targeted by the U.S. tax authorities," it said, adding there had been no subsequent data handovers after November 2010.

"The affair referred to in the Sunday newspapers was handled in full compliance with US and Swiss legal requirements," it said.

Finance Ministry spokesman Roland Meier declined to comment on the report.

The investigation into the 11 Swiss banks was fed by data culled in a crackdown on UBS, which that bank settled in 2009 by handing over thousands of client data, paying a fine and admitting wrong-doing.

In a related interview with the SonntagsZeitung, Patrick Odier, president of the Swiss Bankers Association, said another case like that of Wegelin & Co. could not be ruled out.

Wegelin, Switzerland's oldest bank, buckled under the pressure of a long-running campaign by U.S. tax authorities and broke itself up in January. Wegelin had accepted money from UBS clients suspected of dodging tax.

"U.S. authorities could have enough material to weigh on banks other than those on the 11-bank list," Odier said.

Switzerland is trying to get investigations into 11 banks dropped in return for the payment of fines and the transfer of U.S. client names. It is also seeking a deal to shield the remainder of its 300 or so banks from U.S. prosecution.

Swiss Finance Minister Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf has said she hoped for a deal before the end of the year.

"We need to draw a line under it, so there are no more charges," Odier said.

Odier also said he did not know how high any fines would be, but that any money due would be divided up amongst the Swiss banks based on the size of their U.S. client base.

Switzerland has also been locked in a similar tax dispute with Germany. The two countries last year agreed to tax secret offshore accounts but are still arguing over whether the deal is too lenient or not.

"Switzerland has made many concessions to Germany," Odier was quoted as saying. "More is not possible."

Customer Service and Internet Marketing - Learn the Skills You ...

    To contact us Click HERE

If you are not comfortable with brisbane pressure cleaning and executing quick and important decisions, then it is critical that you know that ability is indispensable with online marketing and business. It is always the very early stages that pose the greatest threat to success or even continuing with the endeavor. If there is no clue at all as to how to get started in the first place, then welcome to the club and learn to deal with it for a while at least. For a while, at least, you will feel like there is no end to what you have to learn with this model of business. Most people are best by fears of one kind or another, and you simply must work to overcome them by just plowing right into them. You know your self that once you have been learning and doing, then you will naturally be better at executing your strategies. You can easily use the following to add much more depth to your current business efforts with the right information and attention. Internet Marketing is something that people, at some point in their lives, give a try. Schedule flexibility, financial freedom and control over their future is why people try out this type of business. Being able to avoid working in customer service, however, should not be one of your goals. It is important that you have good 'online customer service skills' when you are doing anything in Internet Marketing. It is important that you realize you will not be able to see anyone's face when you're doing this type of customer service. In this article, we have detailed several ways that you can provide customer service to customers that buy services or products from you. You can have an advantage in some respects by learning why business on the web is so different from the offline world. It really all depends on who you talk to, and some would go so far as say it can be unpredictable. The occasionally unpredictable nature of the internet should compel you to spread your business and marketing so it is not dependent on just one thing being present. As you continue reading on the subject of roofing gold coast, do you think that is something that will mesh well with your business or could add to it? Actually, a discerning mind that is willing to openly think about the negatives later on is what you need to have to last well into the future. Everything you do when you are marketing and advertising your business puts you on the line to some degree, but that is just the nature of business. You should never lie to your customers for any reason. Let's say that you are dealing with a cranky customer. They simply want to hang up on them, or get them to stop e-mailing. To do this, you might lie to them, telling them what they want to hear. Don't lower yourself to this. More times than not, the customer will be aware that you are lying. If you lie one time, you'll probably do it again, catering to the whims of the customer. If there is nothing you can do to satisfy your customer's demands, maybe it is time to invent something that will. It is important that you do not lie at any time. Just don't do it. Try to understand the irritation your customer is experiencing. Agreeing with them might be all it takes by saying something along the lines of "Your frustration is understandable" or "I can relate to your frustration." Some clients will want to complain solely to let you know they are unsatisfied. When you recognize and tell them that those feelings are legitimate, they will feel better. They will be much happier if you say "how can I make this better for you" or "what were you hoping for?" Quite often, all it takes to keep them as customers is to admit that there is a problem and that they have every right to feel as they do. Implement a return policy that is simple and generous to the customer. You don't want to force people to go through a gauntlet if they have issue with your product. This will just alienate them further. This is why it's a good idea to offer a longer money-back warranty. Your customers are much more likely to see you in a positive light if your return policy is customer-friendly, even if the warranty period has expired. A couple of returns won't adversely affect you. You cannot handle lost business at the hands of someone who can further spread bad word of mouth about you. It is commonly believed that customer service is something that we just do, and we take it for granted everyday. Specifically, online customer service is like an art form: you have to practice it to get good at it. Customer happiness, as well as handling any issues that come your way, is part of this art form that must be learned. The tips we've talked about in this article are just a jumping off point. As you keep working you will learn plenty of others. Can you see any positive applications in your existing marketing? Have you ever thought about taking your existing promotional product line and doing something different with it? We tend to think the majority of small business owners become complacent and especially once they begin earning decent profits. So do not allow that to happen to you, and we talk about expanding marketing efforts all the time for that reason. Lots of people can take pressure cleaning gold coast and use it to make money, but only those people who want to truly succeed will not be content with one or two methods of promotion. If for no other reason, look behind you, and you will see the sea of competitors who want to beat you; you cannot allow that to happen.

Building a Team development Plan ? A Business Plan Tactic ...

Team building provides actually become a rather all-pervasive term for most any get together of staff or even suppliers. Actually it could pertain to everything from a small Professional Team Achieving, to a achieving of new uses, and suppliers/service suppliers that will impact your customers. Don?t forget a few years ago once the catch key phrase within companies-?customers?? Clients were defined as anybody within the company that obtained the fresh fruits of your work. Team building provides included the get acquainted treatment or even indoctrinations. It seems the one frequent denominator is a organized activity that will or might not force discussion of a team; its dimensions are immaterial. No matter the motivation for you to employee the team building physical exercise, my approach is a much more structured procedure for team building organizing. Off-sites offer a large amount of flexibility.

Our view is always that most people do not like being manipulated, especially when to control your emotions in a way akin to becoming ?out smarted?. Also, many of us recognize that you?ll find levels (experiential) or perhaps progressions of a team?s interaction as time passes. For example, some teams are actually through a compilation of team building workout routines together then one exercise generates upon previous meetings. Therefore, there needs to be a method to what can turn into madness, throughout building teams through discussion. Do it right because: yes, there can be wrong replies and results!

Another approach; look at the team building approach like your would certainly constructing your own business plan, only in the abbreviated structure. The components in the team building plan would be to define some important components that can be the aha moment. (Defined by Dictionary.org as, ?a quick understanding, acknowledgement or quality.?

The different parts of a formal team building events plan are:

?Summary-Half a page involving concise info that summarizes the different elements of the actual planned team building events event/exercise. Make it concerning the positive portions of the: that, what, the reason why, where whilst the in depth analysis within the details pointed out the specific elements/topic. This ought to be at the end of the blueprint but nobody reads the final page first.

?Defined Objectives that you might want to accomplish and ensure it is not the ?all things to almost all people? statement(utes). To keep the actual exercise fascinating, productive, as well as results oriented, be to the point and not overly broad. Also, be distinct as to what the actual required results are about. People buy-in much more readily when they understand the vacation spot.

?Participant strengths review. This section is one of the participants on the team, the reason why they are area of the team has to be highlighted. (The actual facilitator needs this information pertaining to purposes of creating an effective physical exercise.)

?The Product is the definition of a strategy/strategies useful to achieve the desired results from which in turn an Return can be tested. For example, is it navigating the sail boat from level A to suggest B, it could be a food preparation a complete meal with the staff divided for you to smaller teams to prepare a variety of courses. Don?t forget, this is not regarding adults doing offers.

?I define the actual Marketing facets of the team physical exercise as the preparing the team for the exercise.

?The Return is not about financials only. The Return is eventually how you appraise the results in a concrete floor way. A person define for yourself and the staff; what results will issue to the team and organization?

?Define what you feel the Competition will better than you and what you just like about their advantages. It may be only perception, however it may be actual in your mind?s vision.

Now you can define the best company to achieve your current goals. In the end your client is the staff!

off the face of the earth - yet.  It's just summer.  And it's hot.  Really hot and humid - and who feels like doing anything much in that sort of weather?  I've been working, reading, clearing out closets, reading a little more, getting rid of stuff I haven't used in forever, reading - and well, you get the picture.  Since I finished up reading M.C. Beaton's Agatha Raisin series, I started in on Hamish MacBeth.  I've read the first eight - but I'm waiting on the ninth book, which is on its way from a used bookstore somewhere in the UK.  Any day now, I keep telling Aggie and Pete.  In the meantime, I've been tidying and rearranging stuff.  I used to be a mad furniture mover in my previous life (and home).  It was much easier with wood and tile floors - not so much with carpet.  And I somehow seem to have lost my former ability to move heavy objects single handedly.  I am not sure when that happened.  At any rate, I now content myself with rearranging stuff: the shelves, the kitchen counter, my desk.  Incentive to dust the place every now and then.  I was also hoping that messing around with my stuff would be good therapy for writer's block. Not yet - but I am hoping for a breakthrough soon.

    We are happy to announce...

that we have adopted a new kitty!  His name is Besito and he is seven years old.  He is a beautiful, sleek black cat and he seems to be adjusting well - so far.  Peter is apparently happy to have a feline playmate and Aggie - well, Aggie doesn't care one way or the other.  She's had cats around all her life and I think she regards them as either siblings or some necessary evil in her little world.Besito explored the kitchen first and checked out where the daily food and water supply is located. Then he set off to check out the living room, the bedroom and where to find the litter box.  There has been no hissing, chasing or fighting as of yet.  Hopefully there won't be any at all - we're just a happy little family.

    A little reward...

can be a good thing, don't you think?  I'm not an extreme coupon nut and I only travel to one store on my infrequent grocery buying trips, but I admit that I do save My Coke Rewards points.  I used to give them away, but then I thought: why don't I save them myself?  So for the past year or so, I've been faithfully savings points from soda cartons and bottles and diligently entering them into the computer.  Every time I have 250 points accumulated, I redeem the points for a coupon to get a free 12-pack of the Coca-Cola product of my choice.  It doesn't sound like much, but I've gotten 4 coupons so far this year; that's 48 cans of soda for a few minutes of my time. Not a bad reward for just drinking soda.

on how our new addition is getting along with his new brother and sister.  As you can see, Peter is unaffected by having to share his home, food, litter box and Mom's affection with the new guy.  He did, however, suggest that we give Besito a nickname: Bee.  Besito doesn't seem to mind - he even answers to Bee when I call him.  He's not quite ready for any lengthy belly rub sessions, but he's coming around.Bee had brought some of his own Friskies along with him, so I put that food in the bowl so he would have something familiar.  Aggie and Pete will eat anything - so a small change wasn't a problem for them.He looks at me from his spot in the kitchen, but isn't quite sure whether or not he wants to come over to my desk for a visit.  I just need to give him some time, I guess.  The other two are always willing to come and see me - probably looking for treats!Everyone needs their own spot, as they say.  Bee decided that he would prefer to sleep in the chair - without the pillows.  He has moved them to the floor for the time being.Apparently, Bee likes the chair in front of my desk better than the one in the living room.  He has made himself comfortable here several times throughout the day and in the evening this past week while the rest of us are reading.  He seems happy to be here and we are happy to have him - if he'd only let me pet him!

are an odd combination of things for a blog post, but it's my birthday and I can write about anything I want.  I was going to do a post a while back about my front door and the bee decor, but I didn't - so I'm showing it off now because bees just make me happy.  I found the wooden flower cut-out, welcome sign and little bee by the door knocker on Etsy.  Aren't they cute?  The sign on the left, the corner of which is peeking out, says Bee Happy.  The new sign confused my clients a little when I switched the flag out for it, but it's been up there since January.  I think they're used to it by now.  Come on in - it's raining outside.Let's see, what was I going to say?  Oh, yes - bangs.  When is one too old for bangs?  I haven't cut my hair in a while, and while I am inordinately fond of headbands, that unfortunate hairstyle has a tendency to really show the grey in my mousy, brown hair.  I just can't do the hair color thing.  If I try to color it myself it looks like crap - seriously.  And I hate paying someone at least $75 to do it for me; consequently, I am besieged by greying temples.  Solution: I trimmed my own bangs and amazingly, I don't look my age - so maybe I'm not too old for bangs after all.  I may give in and go somewhere for a cheap quick trim.
Is this not the coolest thing?  My friend, Kathy, sent this lovely handmade sewing gadget to me for my birthday.  She said it had my name written all over it: ME fabric and useful, too!  It is a tile padded and covered with an attached pin cushion - with a fabric waste basket hanging over the edge.  Matches my bedroom sewing corner (and ME sewing basket liner) perfectly and I can't wait to use it!Now for the books: I just finished reading Sunshine on Scotland Street - the latest installment in that wonderful series.  It was a lovely chronicle of the adventures of Cyril, the only dog in Edinburgh sporting a gold tooth, while his owner Angus is on his honeymoon with his new wife, Domenica.  Bertie is still the victim of his mother's yoga classes, Italian lessons and the psychobabble of Melanie Klein.  Bruce, the narcissist, has an interesting experience with his new found doppelganger and the lottery.  Danish reality television wants to do a documentary on Matthew and the triplets - but plans change with the filmmaker meets Big Lou.  Of course, now I have to wait about a year for the next one.Fortunately, Mr. McCall Smith is about the release the next book in the Isabel Dalhousie series - I can't wait until the end of October.  No murders in Isabel's little corner of Edinburgh - but her adventures are interesting all the same!

    Arlington Way by Liza Hirst

Today was a good day for plein air and I had a great time painting this little street in Islington. People looking on were so friendly and interested. Two men, independently of each other, even specially parked their vans on the other side of the street in order not to disturb my view. So kind!

At Leadenhall Market by Liza Hirst

Before my friend Olha Pryymak suggested painting in the Leadenhall Market, I had never heared of it, so I went there without any expectation whatsoever and was overwhelmed with what awaited me. This arcade was built in the 15th century and is absolutely stunning. Together with Maryam Foroozanfar we had a great afternoon working there side by side and while I was obviously drawn into all the details of its architecture, Olha captured the atmosphere in her painting beautifully. Maryam did a sketch of the lanterns of which unfortuntely I have no picture to show.

    Lunch Break by Liza Hirst

There are sooo many restaurants, cafés, sandwich bars, pubs etc. here in London, it is unbelievable. And even more the fact that they seem to be busy nonstop, no matter what time of day. Anyway, this is a typical scene, especially around lunch time, when they all spill out of the offices in search of something to bite and have the luck to enjoy their break in a relaxed place like this one.

St.Paul's Cathedral on Overcast Day by Liza Hirst

It was windy, rainy and overcast but nevertheless great fun painting this view from the rooftop of the One New Change Mall in London. I have painted it before, based on a photograph, but found it much more satisfying painting it plein air - especially in the company of my friends Olha and Maryam.

St.Paul's again, but from a different spot. When we arrived for our plein air session, the sun was beaming through this passage way and we were inspired by the shadows of the passers by. Unfortunately that changed very quickly due to clouds coming and going. So neither of us managed to capture the first impression but the view was interesting nevertheless.

    Running Man Chaser

    Episode 107:
    Location: Incheon (various locations).
Guests: Jang Shin Young, Kim Sang Joong (actors), Gaeko (Dynamic Duo); Gary absent but has a cameo.
Episode "plot": Kim Sang Joong has just been released from prison after 8 years on a corruption conviction. His aide, Jang Shin Young meets him at his release and tells him she has prepared for his comeback into politics and they have to get to a press conference at Yonsei University by a certain time with a "gold pin". The gold pin was supposed to have been delivered to them by courier at the prison, but was mistakenly delivered to someone else on the courier's list of deliveries, who all happen to be Running Man members. They must get the gold pin from the Running Man member and make it to the press conference on time. The items the Running Men receive lead to the first mission, including a car, keys to the car, GPS, a flashdrive with mission instructions, Running Man clothes and nametags.
Incheon parking lot mission: The Running Men search through unlocked cars to find a black box, which holds instructions to the next mission site.
Songdo elementary school mission: Find the car keys for the car prepared for them from amongst citizens in a street market by getting a correct response to their password. It is implied (and figured out by the Running Men) that one person will not be able to get into the car at the end of the mission, but it's not stated in the instructions that it's a competition.
Yonsei University (Songdo) mission: Kim Sang Joong and Jang Shin Young take the two members they've . . . acquired and make them hostages. With the Running Men witnessing, Kim Sang Joong whispers something in each of the hostages' ear, one being an important clue for the Running Men, and the other being something false and misleading. The Running Men then choose which hostage they want let go and the other is eliminated. Then everyone competes to figure out who has the gold pin, and while avoiding the security forces that are deployed, obtain it and get to the press conference by the given time and if this isn't complicated and muddled enough, there's a spy.
Comments: This episode is derived from the 2012 drama The Chaser, in which Kim Sang Joong played a corrupt politician who in the end is served justice and sent to prison for 8 years, and Jang Shin Young played his aide. The courtroom scene at the beginning of the episode is ostensibly a parody of a key scene from The Chaser, and includes a cameo by Jo Jae Yoon "reprising" his role as Park Yong Sik in the drama. Skull, Haha's partner in a recent music collaboration, cameos as "PK Skull", perhaps parodying the role of PK Joon in the drama (I haven't seen it). It was possibly shot to lay the stage for the episode for people unfamiliar with the drama, but was probably more likely shot because deep inside, the production team really, really wants to work on a drama, but is stuck with working on silly and frivolous Running Man. Haha & Skull's song Busan Vacance is used as BGM.
    - After several episodes of getting back to Running Man basics, this episode brings back drama elements and likely staging and direction with a complicated "plot", which at many points doesn't make sense and subverts the idea of figuring out and completing missions. If they were straight-forward Running Man missions, I wonder if they would have been able to figure out what to do next given what is shown on screen. There is nothing shown through mission instructions about members disappearing or being abducted, and it seems unlikely that Running Man members would arbitrarily and independently leave a member behind at a location without being told it was fine to do so. While searching for the black box in the cars, they just give cursory looks into the cars, but in the car where they just happened to find it, they searched pretty vigorously. Aside from a mention of "gold pin" in a mission instruction, the Running Men are never told on screen what the objective is, so when they are given 5 seconds to make a getaway from the security forces, unless explained to them off-screen by the PD, they have no idea what it is they're supposed to do (further evidenced by Gwang Soo asking what the mission is). The security forces they are supposedly evading eventually disappear and become irrelevant.

    'Don't Walk, Date'

    To contact us Click HERE
    Episode 108:
Guests: Gong Hyo Jin (actress), Lee Joon (MBLAQ); Gary absent.
    Location: Greater Seoul (various locations).
Teams (fake 'Don't Walk, Date' drama press conference): Leading role team: Gong Hyo Jin-Gwang Soo; supporting roles teams: Jong Kook-Haha-Suk Jin; Jae Suk-Ji Hyo-Lee Joon.
Yangjaecheon Outdoor Swimming Pool mission: Teams must together find the balloons in the swimming pool that have questions in them. If they find a balloon with a question, they must answer it correctly together to pass. Two members of the winning team get a hint for the final elimination, one member of the second place team gets the hint.
Zoo cafe mission (Seocho-dong): Gong Hyo Jin is fitted with a heart rate monitor and teams compete for who can raise her heart rate the most. Two members of the winning team get a hint for the final elimination, one member of the second place team gets a hint.
Leading role team vs. supporting role teams elimination (NS Home Shopping building): Gwang Soo gets seven (7) nametags and all of them must be torn off for him to be eliminated and only after he is eliminated is Gong Hyo Jin able to be attacked and eliminated (she has complete immunity until Gwang Soo is eliminated). There are clues referencing past popular South Korean dramas hidden throughout the building and the supporting role teams must identify and enact scenes of those dramas before each of Gwang Soo's nametags are torn off. If a supporting role team member who has a clue enabling one of Gwang Soo's nametags to be removed is eliminated before the nametag is removed, that clue is nullified. Two "Goh sisters" scriptwriters can be found by either team and can be forced to write how the "script" for the episode can unfold (eliminate people). Once the script is written, the drama must be played out as written (within certain rules).
Comments: Lee Joon's fourth Running Man appearance. This episode seems to be taking the Running Man production team's obsession with wanting to be a drama in a new direction. Instead of scripting and staging scenarios in furtherance of a contrived drama-like plot, they're actually trying to convince themselves they're filming a drama, filming pretend press conferences and calling the missions "scenes". I think they need psychiatric help or should quit Running Man and go work for a drama if that's what they want so much.
    - Suspicious: it is really hard to sneak up on someone in a stairwell (although with all the crew it might just barely be plausible. Barely).
    - There's a lot that's suspicious in this episode. Everyone has their own bias and criteria regarding what they think is fake or not. I tend to give the show benefit of doubt, recognizing a lot is in the editing which may give the appearance of being fake when they're just trying to make the episode cohesive and focused, and including just the relevant bits. So my criteria for what's fake or not is plausibility. If it's vaguely plausible, I accept it as real. And that may be overly kind. Also barely, barely plausible is the team that reconstitutes and figures out the clue that had been destroyed. That one was really pushing the envelope of plausibility. It's a shame that there's even an issue amongst fans of whether missions are real or staged. It hurts the integrity of the show, which is supposed to be spontaneous. But it's the production team's fault that it has become an issue by going down that road of staging and scripting missions so obviously that fans noticed.

    Episode 109: part 1
Guests: Park Tae Hwan, Son Yeon Jae (Olympic athletes).
    Location: Yangju, Gyeonggi-do (various locations).
Intro/Team formation (Art Park): Guests do rock-paper-scissors to choose their teams. Remaining three become a team. Son Yeon Jae-Jae Suk-Gwang Soo; Park Tae Hwan-Jong Kook-Gary; Ji Hyo-Haha-Suk Jin.
Spring Training mission (Duri Family Land): Trampoline karaoke: Score 80 points or more in karaoke with the microphone suspended above the trampoline; pool challenge: two members cross a pool, one on an inflatable raft, one in a water hamster ball, both must memorize a phrase presented halfway through and repeat it at the end, while the person on the raft has to pick up the third member halfway through and bring that person to the end. Winning team gets to choose whether to give a member of another team a disadvantage, or give a member of their team an advantage.
Summer Training mission (Uijeongbu Budaejjigae (army stew) Street): Teams compete in games of alkkagi for ingredients for budaejjigae. Winning team gets to choose whether to give a member of another team a disadvantage or give a member of their team an advantage.
Winter Training mission (Uijeongbu indoor ice skating rink): Trash bin curling: Teams compete to push a member across the ice closest to the finish line. Winning team gets to choose whether to give a member of another team a disadvantage or give a member of their team an advantage.
Autumn Training mission, part 1 (Pocheon Herb Island): Find the bottles of colored water "potions" and bring them to the "witch", who conjures the result of each potion.
Comments: Trash bin "curling" was used in episodes 4/5 (Gwacheon Nat'l Science Museum (Jessica, Nichkhun)), although not done on ice then. Budaejjigae is a dish that was developed during and after the Korean War (1950-1953) when food was scarce. U.S. Army bases had surplus long shelf-life food, such as spam and hot dogs, which were used in stews to feed people. Uijeongbu had U.S. army bases and is considered one of the originating locations for budaejjigae. The pool challenge seems kinda arbitrary, but I think the point of how it was edited was the hilarity of the hamster ball. Revealing edit: even though the opening appears like seamless shooting, Ji Hyo is not there in the very first shots, presumably late, but suddenly appears within the first minute of the episode, so they must have broken shooting for her to get miked up and get on set. Exactly opposite, towards the end of the opening, they don't edit the part when the PD is trying to get the cast's attention to announce the rules. Probably known to regular Running Man fans, but Gary was absent for two weeks due to a back injury and returns in this episode, and recently Haha announced his engagement to singer Byul; both are referred to in the opening. Staging suspicion: in the very last sequence, the VJ of the member spying on the member getting the potion conjured would have been in plain sight, so although he was supposed to be spying, if staged, the other member knew he was there. The result, though, won't be made clear until part two.

    Target Hunting

    Episode 110: part 2
Guests: Park Tae Hwan, Son Yeon Jae.
    Location: Pocheon, Gyeonggi-do.
Autumn Training elimination, part 2 (Herb Island): Find the bottles of colored water "potions" and bring them to the "witch", who conjures the result of the potions (blue makes nametags huge, red gives one-time protection from nametag elimination and deflects the elimination to any one member of their choosing).
Morning indoor games: Each member writes down an activity they're good at that must be able to be done in the room and using the materials available. They're each given 10 stones for betting, and the PD randomly chooses activities to do. For each activity, the Running Men choose whether to participate, and bet stones based on their confidence in winning. If they win, they get double of what they bet. The winner gets an advantage in the final elimination (gonggi (similar to jacks); ddakji (paper flipping); stretching; holding the most water in their mouths; stone sliding).
Target Hunting elimination (Daejin University): Each member privately chooses a number from 1 to 9 upon entering. Starting from number 9 moving sequentially to number 1, each member in turn becomes the target for elimination by everyone else. As soon as a person becomes the target, that person is allowed to tear off anyone's nametag, and if successful eliminates that person and takes over that person's number. Everyone else can only eliminate the target. Two eliminated members are resurrected during the course of the game.
Comments: The original morning mission was cancelled because of the approach of Typhoon Bolaven, which made landfall later that day, August 28 (assuming the two-day shoot was Monday and Tuesday). The indoor games obviously wasn't planned and is conducted very loosely without strict adherence to rules (I don't think anyone will deny Son Yeon Jae is given the softball treatment, and I would guess not too many will mind), and actually has a nostalgic feel of early Running Man episodes when similar games were regularly featured. The likely staged portion of the previous episode looks like it just sets up the running gag between those two members afterwards. The winner of the indoor games doesn't get any real advantage shown on-screen, but it's possible that although they were all supposed to pick their number randomly, that member was "given" that number as part of the design with the PD knowing about the resurrections, and that was the big advantage. That's just speculation. Personal note to Ji Hyo: Don't ever go to either Boston or New York wearing that baseball hat with both Yankees and Red Sox logos on it. I guarantee in either city, within 30 minutes on the streets, a total stranger will walk up and unapologetically knock that hat off. Or not. Or worse. Both are passionate baseball towns (even if it can lead to idiotic behavior like knocking a stranger's hat off), and passionately hate each others' teams (Me, I like Boston town just fine, but hate the Red Sox just because I grew up in the NY tristate area).

    Episode 111: part one
Guests: Lee Jong Won, Son Byung Ho, Go Chang Suk, Shin Jung Geun, Im Ha Ryong (middle-aged actors).
    Location: Busan.
Teams: Lee Jong Won-Gary-Haha-Ji Hyo; Im Ha Ryong-Jae Suk-Son Byung Ho-Suk Jin; Shin Jung Geun-Go Chang Suk-Jong Kook-Gwang Soo.
"Diamond Step" episode race: Teams roll dice to move along a master game board directing them to locations where missions are to be carried out. Three location missions have a key as a reward that is needed in the final mission.
Gukje Market telepathy challenge (green and purple teams): Teams divide into two pairs. Each pair randomly chooses a food stall in the market and while wearing an inner tube goes and finds it. They choose and eat one of three plates of the specialty food, each with a card underneath. Both pairs return to the starting area with the card and if they both chose the card with the same picture on it, they pass and roll the die for the next location.
Mi World roller coaster karaoke challenge (red team; green team second round): In pairs, sing karaoke while riding the roller coaster. One pair must score 90 or above to pass. Roll the die.
Sushi restaurant (purple team): No mission shown, just eat and roll the die.
Baseball challenge (red and green teams): One member hits a baseball into the field and starts yelling "home run" as long as possible while the others carry one member around the bases. Roll the die after passing.
40 Steps Culture & Tourist Street challenge (red and purple teams): Two members of each team must kick their shoes up the stairs and have it land on the step with the Running Man flag to pass. Roll the die.
Village water gun fight (green team): Find the Running Man canister hidden in the village while avoiding having their nametags shot by villagers who have been armed with water guns. Receive a key and roll die.
Songdo Beach challenge (purple team): Eat a piece of dried persimmons hanging from a hat they must wear without using their hands within one minute. Failure to pass means automatic elimination. First team to pass receives a key.
Bus challenge (red and purple teams): Inside a bus, prevent the blindfolded Dongwan auntie FD from tearing off their nametags for three minutes. If their nametag gets torn off, they are automatically eliminated. First team to pass receives a key.
National Maritime Museum (final destination): Search for the hidden treasure chest, but two of the keys the teams received are needed to open it. The keys are hidden behind one member's nametag on each team. Tear off nametags to eliminate other teams and acquire their keys.
Comments: The National Maritime Museum opened on July 9, 2012. Roller coaster karaoke was also used in ep. 9. Amusement parks in South Korea should have roller coaster karaoke nights. A pretty airtight episode in terms of design with some minor editing issues, such as the mission-less sushi restaurant mission and that they don't state that the first team to pass the bus and Songdo beach challenges receives the key. I'm assuming that because it only makes sense, and theoretically one team could have gotten more than one key. Personally, I'm not thrilled about the idea of eliminations before reaching the final destination. Give them disadvantages, give winners advantages, but at least let them participate, I say. Otherwise a refreshingly fun episode with great cast-guest (and Korean public) interaction.

Political leaders such as Barack Obama and Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt may be popular among Swedes. However, they are not as popular as Swedish Crown Princess Victoria, according to the results of the latest SOM survey - University of Gothenburg, Sweden - which were presented Tuesday during the seminar Focus on the Leaders.

Although Swedes' confidence in the Swedish Royal Court is at a record low, it turns out that Crown Princess Victoria is the most popular of all royalties included in the survey.

'The popularity of the crown princess is actually the strongest for a public person that we have ever found,' says Docent/Reader Lennart Nilsson from the SOM Institute.

King Carl XVI Gustav is less popular than his daughter, but can enjoy the same level of popularity as the most popular Swedish political leader Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt and other Nordic heads of state.

Fredrik Reinfeldt is the most widely recognised Swedish political leader 99 percent indicated that they know who he is. Then follow Maud Olofsson from the Centre Party at 98 percent and the former leaders of the Left Party and the Social Democrats Lars Ohly and Hkan Juholt at 97 percent.

The least well-known political leaders are Anna Troberg from the Swedish Pirate Party at 34 percent, the new leader of the Left Party Jonas Sjstedt at 57 percent and the Green Party's sa Romson at 61 percent.

Looking at the popularity of Swedish political leaders, we find the Green Party's Gustav Fridolin and the Centre Party's Annie Lf placed immediately behind Fredrik Reinfeldt, who again tops the list. Jimmie kesson from the Swedish Democrats, Lars Ohly from the Left Party and Anna Troberg from the Swedish Pirate Party are found at the other end of the same list, which was compiled in the autumn of 2011.

Swedes seem to be less familiar with EU leaders. For example, only one-third know who Herman van Rompuy (President of the European Council) and Catherine Ashton (EU's 'minister for foreign affairs') are, despite the fact that they have held two of the heaviest EU positions for the last two years.

Heads of state seem to be more widely known than EU and UN politicians, which in a way is surprising considering the fact that both organisations have far-reaching effects on Swedish politics.

People's private sphere is generally headed by females, as they tend to be in charge of most domestic tasks. According to the survey results, women feel that they carry a much heavier total responsibility in the household, including for cleaning, cooking and household shopping.

The responsibility taken for children is the most equally divided, as 58 percent of the respondents indicated that it is shared equally. However, there are clear gender differences in the responses two-thirds of the male respondents feel that this responsibility is shared equally, whereas only half of the females do.

Home maintenance and repairs is the area with the highest level of inequality. Only one in five responded that the work is shared equally, and this is also the only area where males claimed to carry the main responsibility.
