Episode 117: part 2
Guests: Ji Sung, Song Chang Ui, Ji Jin Hee (guests from previous week), Suzy (miss A), Yubin (Wonder Girls).
Location: Gwangju.
Teams: Yellow Yubin-Jae Suk-Ji Sung-Gary; green Suzy-Haha-Gwang Soo-Ji Jin Hee; orange Ji Hyo-Jong Kook-Suk Jin-Song Chang Ui.
Episode riddle race: Teams go to various locations in Gwangju and complete tasks to gain clues to solve a riddle at the final destination. After each mission, choose a hint in order of completion and spin the wheel to determine the next destination.
Piggy-back relay race (Gwangju City Hall*): Each team must complete a relay race under 20 seconds while carrying the female member whose feet can't touch the ground to pass.
X-O paddle quiz (dduk galbi restaurant*): All team members must simultaneously answer two yes-no questions correctly in a row to pass (and eat) (green, yellow teams).
Find the student (Suzy's elementary school*): Teams must find students who have written letters describing themselves. After finding them, compete in kicking a milk box into a bin (the kids can throw). The team that gets the most in wins.
Disco ride pedometer challenge (Kumho Family Land*): Teams must go on the Disco ride wearing pedometers and after the ride, the sum of all of their pedometers must be below 300 to pass (green, orange teams).
Tissue blowing challenge (fried lettuce restaurant*): Tissues must be blown from one member to another and into a basket within a certain amount of time to pass (revised due to difficulty) (yellow team).
Horse vault/archery challenge (Gwangju U-Square bus terminal*): Teams compete vaulting over a horse and onto an archery scoring field to earn points. 10 points needed to pass.
Final destination riddle solving (Asia Culture Complex*): Teams give their answers to the riddle and any team to get it wrong is eliminated. Surviving teams compete in a rock-paper-scissors match with advantages given to teams in order of arrival (number of players participating).
Comments: The Asia Culture Complex is under construction and slated to open in 2014 and is a part of an ongoing, long-term project to make Gwangju an Asian center of cultural exchange. Ji Jin Hee's method on the Disco ride is clever. From a mechanics point of view, it basically turns the body into a shock absorber. I don't think the Disco ride exists in the U.S., which would make sense because that ride would be a lawsuit waiting to happen. Fat Americans would be rolling and bouncing about uncontrollably or they'd outright break the machine (I'm American and I love the U.S., but we've got plenty to poke fun at ourselves). To be fair, it does look like anyone could get injured on that ride. No doubt the staff tested the tissue blowing challenge and found it feasible, but didn't count on the usual RM chaos and hyperventilation. The archery scoring field looks more like a shot put/javelin scoring field, but liberties may have been taken to fit an archery concept into the challenge.
