Episode 130: Location: Seoul Metropolitan Library, Seoul New City Hall*.
1938 key collection set-up mission (Seoul Metropolitan Library (Old Seoul City Hall)): Running Man members in 1938 personas are each tasked to find a key and then rip off nametags to acquire all 7 keys hidden in Seoul City Hall to open a treasure chest in the mayor's office. Winner is not disclosed (it's a set-up mission).
2013 reincarnation mission (New Seoul City Hall): Running Man members of 1938 have been reincarnated into present-day personas, but not necessarily into themselves from 1938. Figure out who is the reincarnation of whom by recalling what strange incidents occurred to whom in 1938 to tell who is who (ball attack, package chase, public dance, romantic confession, random punches, bumped by stranger, (Suk Jin's tell isn't shown)). Then figure out who ended up with all of the keys in 1938 and acquire them by ripping nametags. The person who acquires the keys and finds the location of the treasure chest, kept secret by one person, wins.
Comments: The new city hall opened in October 2012. The old city hall is a culturally protected building, but that doesn't mean it had to be preserved. Except for the central tower section, which includes the mayor's office, basically the entire building was razed except the facade of the U-shaped part and re-constructed to become a Seoul Metropolitan Library, also opened in October 2012. The incomplete U was part of the original design, and not a part that was destroyed. When the RM members go from 1938 to 2013, they cross a walkway connecting the two buildings.
- In 1938, Korea was under Japanese colonial rule. Even though any historical subtext to the year or era is not stated in the episode, I like to think of the gold as the Japanese equivalent to Nazi gold that the Korean resistance was trying to steal back. It's just entertainment, but being mindful of history, North and South Korea weren't divided until 1945, so some members' mention of 'unification' in 1938 mode can be interpreted as uniting in resistance against the Japanese (epdrama's English is generally better, but I think in this instance kshownow translates it better as 'independence'.).
- Clear evidence of inconsistency in the shooting can be seen during the old city hall scene where Jae Suk and Jong Kook meet up. At worst, it was a staged scene, but giving benefit of doubt, it may have been a re-shoot of what actually happened (when Jong Kook walks out of room, there is no camera following right behind him, but then there is a shot of him walking out of the room from a camera tracking right behind him; Jong Kook walks into the room much farther than Jae Suk has to move to get to the doorway to follow him, but suddenly Jong Kook is right at the doorway; in my opinion, it is not plausible that Jae Suk didn't see Jong Kook's cameraman as he entered the room, especially since he's on the hunt. I call shenanigans.). Whether staged or a re-shoot is totally speculative and anyone's own opinion, but re-shoots of things that happened but missed by the cameras are totally fair game.
